Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 August 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to peek ("we," "our," or "us"). peek is a mobile app that helps couples explore intimacy together. Because peek handles sensitive information about your relationship and your preferences, we take privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have.
By using peek you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the Service. Some processing needs your explicit consent, which we ask for separately (see Section 5).
2. Who We Are
peek is operated by Peek Technologies Pty Ltd, located in VIC 3145, Australia ("peek," "we," "us"). We are the data controller responsible for your personal information. You can reach us any time at info@getpeek.io.
3. Age Restrictions
peek is intended only for adults aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you are under 18, please do not use the Service. If we learn that we have collected information from someone under 18, we will delete it promptly. For more on our child safety commitments, see our Child Safety page.
4. Information We Collect
4.1 Account and Sign-In
You can create an account with an email address and password, or by using Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google. When you use a social login, that provider shares a limited set of information with us, such as your email address and a unique account identifier. We also store any username or display name you choose.
4.2 Profile and Onboarding
During onboarding and in your profile you may provide:
- Gender identity and sexual orientation
- Relationship context and relationship status
- Your comfort or adventurousness level
- Age range and timezone
- Notification preferences (preferred day and time)
Some of this is sensitive information about your sex life and sexual orientation. We treat it as special category data and only process it with your explicit consent, as described in Section 5.
4.3 Content You Create
As you use peek we collect the content and choices you create, including:
- Your reactions to cards ("Yum," "Ick," "Maybe," or "Super Yum")
- Messages and reactions you send your partner in chat (these are end-to-end encrypted, see Section 7)
- Your inputs and progress in experiences such as date night, take a peek, love languages, challenges and others
- Feedback, support requests and any reason you give when deleting your account
4.4 Device and Technical Information
We automatically collect certain technical information, including:
- Device information (device type, operating system, app version, unique device identifiers)
- A push notification token so we can deliver notifications to your device
- Usage data (features used, time spent, how you move through the app)
If you enable biometric unlock (such as Face ID), that check happens on your device and we do not receive your biometric data.
4.5 Analytics and Session Recording
We use PostHog to understand how peek is used and to improve it. This analytics is linked to your account rather than anonymous, so we can understand how features perform for real users. PostHog also records app sessions (session replay) to help us find and fix usability problems. We configure session replay to hide the most sensitive content, and your end-to-end encrypted chat messages are never readable by us. We are working to expand this masking, but you should be aware that session recording captures how you interact with the app.
5. Special Category Data and Your Consent
Data about your sexual orientation and your sex life is treated as a special category of personal data under data protection laws such as the GDPR and UK GDPR. We only process this information on the basis of your explicit consent, which we ask for at the start of onboarding, separately from your acceptance of these policies.
You can withdraw this consent at any time. Because peek cannot provide its core experience without this information, withdrawing consent means deleting your account. You can do that from the app or from our account deletion page.
6. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain and improve the Service
- Process your reactions and power partner matching
- Enable partner linking, messaging and the experiences you use together
- Send you notifications and reminders you have opted into
- Understand usage and improve the app using account-linked analytics and session recording
- Process your subscription payments through the App Store or Google Play
- Respond to your questions and provide customer support
- Keep the Service safe and enforce our Terms
- Contact you occasionally to ask for product feedback or invite you to take part in user research. These messages are part of our service relationship with you, not marketing. You can opt out at any time by replying to the email or contacting info@getpeek.io.
7. Messaging and End-to-End Encryption
Messages and message reactions you exchange with your linked partner are end-to-end encrypted. They are encrypted on your device using keys that stay on your device, so peek cannot read the contents of your messages. This also means we cannot proactively monitor or moderate the contents of chats. We do process message metadata, such as timestamps, participant identifiers and delivery status, to operate the messaging feature.
8. Partner Sharing
peek is designed to be used with a linked partner. When you link accounts, some of your data is shared with your partner so you can explore together. This includes cards you both react "Yum" to (your matches), the messages you send each other, and the content and progress of shared experiences such as date night plans, take a peek reveals and swaps.
Individual card reactions that do not become a match are not shown to your partner. Once you have shared content with a partner, they may be able to see, save or screenshot it, and peek cannot control what your partner does with content you have shared.
9. How We Share Information (Sub-Processors)
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who process it on our behalf so we can run peek. Our current sub-processors are:
- Supabase: database, authentication and file storage
- PostHog: product analytics, feature flags and session recording
- Sentry: crash and error reporting
- Expo, together with Apple Push Notification service and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging: delivering push notifications
- Resend: sending transactional and lifecycle emails
- Apple and Google: social sign-in, and app store payments if you subscribe
- OpenAI and Google (Gemini): generating and curating card content before it reaches users (this does not involve your personal data)
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights or safety of our users or the public, or as part of a business transfer.
10. We Do Not Sell Your Data
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. This applies to residents of California and other regions that provide these rights.
11. Data Storage, Location and International Transfers
Your data is stored on servers located in Australia, using Supabase as our storage provider. If you use peek from the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, your information is transferred to Australia. Where required, we rely on an appropriate transfer safeguard for this, such as Standard Contractual Clauses or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement ([TRANSFER SAFEGUARD]).
12. Data Retention and Deletion
We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we delete the personal data associated with your account, including your profile, onboarding answers, card reactions, packs, and the messages you sent.
Please note some information may remain after deletion:
- Content you shared with a partner, such as your matches and messages your partner sent, may remain visible to that partner
- Some records may be retained in de-identified form, or where we are required to keep them by law
- Residual copies may persist in encrypted backups for a limited period before they are overwritten
Once deleted from our active systems, your account information cannot be recovered.
13. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you and request a copy
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Withdraw consent for processing that relies on your consent
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority
To request a copy of your data: open the feedback and support form in the app (Profile, then the feedback option), choose Request my data, and send it. We verify the request against the account you are signed in with, so we know the data goes to the right person. If you cannot sign in, email us at info@getpeek.io from the email address on your account.
We will respond within one month of receiving your request, free of charge. If a request is complex, we may extend that by up to two further months, and we will tell you why within the first month. We send your data as a JSON file to the email address on your account, covering your profile, onboarding answers, card reactions, matches, packs, notification history, and the feedback you have sent us.
One limit we want to be upfront about: chat messages are end-to-end encrypted. We store only encrypted text and hold no key that can unlock it, so we cannot include readable message contents in an export. We can include the timestamps of messages you sent. Your own messages remain readable on your device, where your key lives.
To correct your information, use the same form and tell us what to change. To unlink from a partner, delete your account from the app or from our account deletion page. If your account is already deleted we no longer hold your personal data, so there is nothing left for us to send you.
14. Data Security
We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure or destruction. This includes end-to-end encryption for chat messages. However no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
15. Data Breach Notification
If a data breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities without undue delay and as required by applicable law. Notifications to you will be sent to the email address associated with your account and will describe what happened and what we are doing about it.
16. Safety and Reporting
You can report abusive behavior or content to us at info@getpeek.io. Because chat is end-to-end encrypted we cannot read message contents, but we can act on reports, including suspending accounts that violate our Terms. peek has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation. To learn more, or to report a concern involving a minor, see our Child Safety page.
17. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. If we make a material change to how we handle sensitive information, we will ask for your fresh consent rather than relying on continued use.
